Abstract


Body mass index is one of the tools to measure weight categories, such as thin, healthy, overweight, and obesity. This measurement helps identify a person's nutritional status and the risk of diseases such as hypertension and heart disease. In this context, body mass index, systolic blood pressure, and heart rate are closely related. Body mass index is calculated from the comparison of weight and height. When body mass index increases, especially in the obesity category, systolic blood pressure tends to increase due to increased vascular resistance. This makes the heart work harder to pump blood. The greater workload on the heart also causes the heart rate to increase, especially in obese individuals. Body fat that accumulates around vital organs also worsens this condition. Analysis of the relationship between body mass index, systolic blood pressure, and heart rate can be done using the MANOVA method with the aim of seeing if there is a significant difference in the combination of body mass index on systolic blood pressure and heart rate. This study involved several tests such as multivariate normal distribution tests, barlett, homogeneity of variance, MANOVA, LSD multiple comparisons, and clustering evaluation on data. The conclusion obtained is that the data meets the assumptions of multivariate normality and independence, but does not meet the assumption of homogeneity of variance. Based on the MANOVA test analysis, the results obtained are that there is at least one category of body mass index that has a significant effect on systolic blood pressure and heart rate. All pairs have different effects on body mass index. Except for normal-normal weight on systolic blood pressure and normal weight-overweight on heart rate.
