Dampak Kenaikan Harga Bahan Pokok terhadap Pola Konsumsi Rumah Tangga di Kecamatan Limboto, Kabupaten Gorontalo Tahun 2025

Abstract

The significant increase in staple food prices in 2025 has placed serious economic pressure on low- and middle-income households in various regions, including Limboto District, Gorontalo Regency. This study aims to analyze the impact of rising staple food prices on changes in household consumption patterns in Limboto District. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews and direct observation of 30 household heads selected using purposive sampling. The findings indicate that most households experienced significant changes in their consumption patterns, including reduced frequency of purchasing animal-based protein, substitution of food products with cheaper alternatives, and decreased consumption of fresh vegetables. The most significant negative impacts were reduced household nutritional quality, decreased household savings, and increased dependence on informal loans. Nevertheless, some positive adaptive responses were also identified, including the development of small household gardens and increased independent food production among a small proportion of households. The study concludes that rising staple food prices have predominantly negative impacts on household consumption patterns and welfare in Limboto District. Therefore, targeted policy interventions are needed to mitigate these impacts.
