Abstract


This study aims to analyze and describe the implementation of Green Management in the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Program at the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) in Kedurus, Surabaya City. Theoretically, Green Management is a managerial approach that integrates environmental sustainability principles into all management functions, from planning to supervision, in order to minimize the negative operational externalities on ecosystems. The purpose of this study is based on the potential environmental impacts of the MBG Program, such as increased food waste, the use of single-use plastic packaging, and high energy and water consumption in the mass food production process at the SPPG level. The research method used is qualitative with a descriptive approach. Primary data were obtained through in-depth interviews with SPPG managers and direct observation of the food processing flow, while secondary data were sourced from internal SOPs and relevant environmental management literature. Data analysis focused on four main dimensions: the utilization of environmentally friendly local raw materials, waste management efficiency through composting strategies and plastic waste reduction, organizational policies and commitments to sustainable operational standards, and the role of Human Resources (HR) capacity in internalizing a culture of environmental awareness. The findings indicate that although the MBG Program has strategic value in improving nutrition, the implementation of Green Management principles at SPPG Kedurus is presumed to have not yet been optimal due to the absence of comprehensive technical regulations and the continued strong emphasis on physical distribution targets over environmental sustainability.
