Abstract
Islamic economic thought has developed over time, including in the colonial and postcolonial eras. This period became an important milestone in the intellectual journey of Islamic economics due to the influence of colonial powers on the traditional economic system of Muslim society. This article aims to analyze the dynamics of the development of Islamic economic thought in both eras. Using qualitative methods based on literature studies, it was found that Islamic economic thought in the colonial era tended to be reactive to the dominance of the colonial economy, while in the postcolonial era, this thought began to lead to the revitalization of Islamic principles in the modern economic system. This article concludes that the development of Islamic economic thought in both eras reflects the efforts of Muslim society to maintain their economic identity amidst global change.
