Abstract
Flooding is a serious problem that often hits Jakarta, especially in areas along the Ciliwung River. Spatial planning along the river with an architectural approach is one solution to reduce the risk of flooding through the integration of natural and artificial elements. This research aims to analyze alternative spatial planning designs commensurate with the Ciliwung River to support flood control in Jakarta. The research method used is literature study from scientific journals and the internet, as well as field observations along the banks of the Ciliwung River. The research results show that a combination of green open space, local vegetation, tiered landscapes, retention ponds, and environmentally friendly flood defense infrastructure can increase water absorption capacity, reduce runoff rates, and prevent erosion on river banks. In conclusion, an architectural approach in spatial planning along rivers has the potential to be a sustainable solution that not only overcomes flooding, but also improves the quality of life and aesthetics of the city.
