Abstract

The Association Between Age and Histopatological Grading in Patien With Carsinoma Breast Canser in RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang in 2022. Cancer has emerged as a global health concern. According to the 2020 Global Cancer Observatory (GLOBOCAN) data, breast cancer ranks first in global mortality, particularly in Indonesia. As age increases, the risk of breast cancer rises, although research indicates lower life expectancy in women under 40. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the The Association Between Age and Histopatological Grading in Patien with Carsinoma Breast Canser in RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang in 2022. This observational analytical study employed a cross-sectional design using secondary data from medical records of inpatient breast cancer patients at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang General Hospital in 2022. Sampling was conducted through simple random sampling and analyzed through univariate and bivariate analyses using the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS). Out of 61 samples inclusion criteria, demographic characteristics revealed a prevalence of SLTA education (59%), mostly unemployed/homemakers (88.5%), and originating from outside Palembang (55.8%). Age analysis indicated the highest risk in the 40-60 age group (67.2%), while histopathological grading distribution showed the highest prevalence in grade 3 (52.5%). The most common histopathological type was categorized as 'other' (90.2%). Bivariate analysis results demonstrated a significant relationship between age and histopathological grading, with a p-value of 0.019 (p<0.05). In 2022 at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang General Hospital, breast cancer predominantly occurred in the 40-60 age group (67.2%) with histopathological grading mostly classified as grade 3 (52.5%). The study also revealed a significant relationship between age and histopathological grading (p=0.019).
