Pendidikan Karakter di Pondok Pesantren Walisongo Lampung Utara

Abstract

This article aims to understand character education in Islamic boarding schools and define the values that shape the character of students and strategies for implementing character education in Islamic boarding schools. This reaction concludes that Islamic boarding schools are educational institutions that implement character education in a structured manner in the entire process of education and learning in Islamic boarding schools. From here, the distinctive culture of the pesantren was formed which was in dispute with the education system outside the pesantren. The values that are spread by pesantren in shaping the character of their students include five values: namely sincerity, simplicity, independence, brotherhood based on the spirit of religion, and freedom. Besides that, salafi Islamic boarding schools generally develop the motto made by Pondok Walisongo, namely: healthy body, broad knowledge, and free thinking. The values that form the character of the salafy pesantren are then implemented both in the learning process, the formation of the pesantren culture, co-curricular activities and extracurricular activities.
