Abstract

The development of digital technology has made it easier for people to access various services through the internet, including online gambling activities. This ease of access has become a serious concern because online gambling can be conducted quickly, easily, and anonymously through digital devices. This community service activity aims to increase the understanding of Islamic Economics students at Universitas Malikussaleh regarding the dangers of online gambling from the perspectives of Islamic law, criminal law, and social impacts. The activity was conducted on May 6, 2026, involving 30 students as participants. The activity employed an educational socialization approach through material presentation, discussions, question-and-answer sessions, and reflection on the risks of online gambling. The Islamic law material emphasized the prohibition ofmaisiras stipulated in the Qur'an, Surah Al-Maidah, verses 9091. From the perspective of criminal law, the activity discussed the prohibition of distributing, transmitting, and providing access to gambling-related content through electronic systems as regulated under Law Number 1 of 2024. From a social perspective, gambling can cause financial losses, family conflicts, disruptions to productivity, and various psychosocial impacts. The World Health Organization also recognizes gambling as an issue that can cause significant health and social consequences (World Health Organization, 2017). The results of the activity indicate that a multidisciplinary approach to socialization is important for university students, as young people are among the groups that are highly exposed to the digital environment.
