Abstract

The development of generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) has transformed the way users interact with digital technologies, particularly through platforms such as ChatGPT and Google Gemini. As the utilization of these platforms continues to increase, evaluating User Experience (UX) is important to assess the overall quality of user interaction. This study aims to compare the user experience of ChatGPT and Google Gemini using the User Experience Questionnaire (UEQ). A quantitative approach with a comparative research method was employed. Data were collected through a literature review and questionnaires administered to university students in Jakarta who use both ChatGPT and Google Gemini, with at least 100 respondents. Data analysis was conducted using IBM SPSS and the UEQ Data Analysis Tool based on six dimensions: Attractiveness, Perspicuity, Efficiency, Dependability, Stimulation, and Novelty. The results indicate that all dimensions of both platforms received positive evaluations. ChatGPT obtained mean scores of 1.737, 1.628, 1.563, 1.368, 1.563, and 1.005, respectively. Meanwhile, Google Gemini obtained scores of 1.730, 1.695, 1.733, 1.533, 1.605, and 1.268. The comparison shows that Google Gemini outperformed ChatGPT in five dimensions, while ChatGPT achieved a slightly higher score in Attractiveness. Therefore, Google Gemini demonstrated better overall user experience across most UEQ dimensions.
