Abstract
Anxiety-related dyspnea is a compelling symptom among patients with acute heart failure (AHF). Breathing training is a nonpharmacological intervention to relieve dyspnea and anxiety. This study aims to evaluate evidence-based nursing care for patients diagnosed with Acute Heart Failure using a case report approach. The results show that nursing interventions that combine pursed lip breathing exercises and patient education, as well as medical care, are effective in reducing shortness of breath and increasing patient chest expansion. Pursed lip conscious breathing is given 20 minutes. Breathing training consists of positioning the patient in Fowler's position with the head of the bed elevated 60 degrees or higher, supporting both arms with pillows, and inhaling through the nose by exhaling through the mouth with pursed lips while counting. Dyspnea and anxiety scores were measured with the Dyspnea Visual Analog Scale and Anxiety Visual Analogue Scale, respectively. This study also highlights the important role of Breathing Training in accelerating patient recovery, including deep breathing exercises, chest mobilization, and posture correction. The evaluation showed that although the patient's breathing problems had not been completely resolved, there had been significant improvements in overall health status. This study emphasizes the importance of implementing a multidisciplinary approach to improve the quality of life of patients with Acute Heart Failure.
