Abstract

This study aims to analyze the inner conflict experienced by the character Rara in Imperfect through Sigmund Freud's psychoanalytic approach. This film raises the theme of self-acceptance and the struggle against social stigma related to physical appearance. Using psychoanalytic theory, this research focuses on the three main personality structures, namely id, ego, and superego, to reveal the psychological dynamics experienced by Rara. The results show that Rara faces an inner conflict caused by the conflict between personal needs (id), social pressure (superego), and her ability to balance the two (ego). This conflict is reflected in Rara's struggle to accept herself amidst the expectations of society and family. The findings provide insight into the influence of social pressure on individual mental health, particularly in women who are often victimized by unrealistic beauty standards.
