Upaya Pemerintah Dalam Menekan Tingginya Angka Pengangguran dan Kemiskinan

Abstract

The high rates of unemployment and poverty have become significant issues faced by governments in many countries, including Indonesia. These phenomena affect the country's economic growth as well as social stability and the well-being of affected communities. Through various policies and initiatives, the government plays a crucial role in reducing the high levels of unemployment and poverty. This research aims to examine what the government is doing to reduce poverty and unemployment rates and to evaluate the effectiveness of these policies. One of the government's key efforts is improving the quality of human resources (HR) through education and vocational training programs. Additionally, the government encourages investment in strategic sectors with the capacity to create new jobs, such as manufacturing, tourism, and the digital economy. Moreover, to assist those living below the poverty line, subsidy policies, and social assistance programs are implemented. On the other hand, to promote economic independence within communities, one important approach is the empowerment of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Nevertheless, the government still needs to overcome several significant challenges in implementing these policies, including complex bureaucracy, inequality in resource distribution, and limited access to capital. However, with consistent and well-directed efforts, the government is expected to reduce poverty and unemployment rates in the long term significantly.
